For even the most casual of Fortnite fans, they're well aware that the game is the king of collaborations and crossovers. The battle royale's latest endeavor once again brings in an outside entity, although in a form players have yet to see. Starting today, Fortnite players can check out an art gallery, featuring work by renowned artist KAWS.

Epic Games' ever-popular free-to-play title is keeping a steady stream of robust content updates coming since the launch of its Chapter 3 last month. In addition to a new island, weapons, and gameplay mechanics, Fortnite has added tornadoes and lightning to the island. However, this week's update arguably offers the most content since the start of the season.

Detailed in a post on the official Fortnite website, the art gallery exhibit is titled "KAWS NEW FICTION," and showcases KAWS' latest boundary-pushing contemporary paintings, sculptures, and augmented reality artworks developed with Acute Art. Featuring multiple iterations of his iconic Companion character, the gallery is set in the famous Serpentine North Gallery in Kensington Gardens in London, England. One of the more interesting aspects of the exhibit is that it's simultaneously taking place in the real-world version of the Serpentine North Gallery.

If Fortnite players feel like they've seen KAWS or his work somewhere before in the game, they aren't wrong. The artist had their very own KAWS Skeleton Outfit released during October of last year as one of many skins during the Fortnitemares 2021 event. The outfit is a skeletal rendition of KAWS' Companion, and came in a variety of colors. Fortnite players that own the skin can jump into the KAWS & Serpentine Hub in Creative to explore the show in-game as a part of the art gallery.

The KAWS NEW FICTION art gallery is only one component of Fortnite's sizable update. Over in the main battle royale mode, the fan-favorite Tilted Towers location has finally made its triumphant return to the game. Following the gradual thawing of much of the island's snow-covered regions, the famed location has returned in all its glory. The latest update also introduces massive dinosaur-like creatures called Klombos, as well as Klomberries, their favorite food. Klombos are docile unless provoked, spawn items after eating, and possess a blowhole players can use to launch from.

Fortnite continues to push the boundaries of what type of content it offers to its players. The only remotely similar experience offered before was the Fortnite and Balenciaga collaboration, which included an in-game version of the luxury brand's store. Between concerts, luxury retail, and now art galleries, Fortnite certainly knows how to keep things fresh beyond usual gameplay.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
