Interstellar space sandbox game Astroneer has finally arrived on the Nintendo Switch from today.

The five year title is fully up to date with its other console and PC versions, as well as four-player online drop in and drop out co-op. The release also coincides with that of a brand new Xenobiology update which arrives for the game on all formats, including the Switch, from today.

Today’s new update introduces new creatures known as Galastropods or space snails. They love treats and get energised by being fed. When they’re full, they can provide a buff to your explorer with a bonus if they fill up on their favourite foods. Players will also be able to embark on a new story in Adventure Mode to investigate the mystery behind their arrival.

Elsewhere, the update also includes some new missions for newer players, along with some brand new recall rewards. Meanwhile, those who play in creative mode will be able to spawn the new space snails via the Discoveries tab. You can check out the full patch notes over on the game’s official blog.

Astroneer is available from today on the Nintendo Switch, and you can check out a trailer for yourself down below.
