Destiny 2's new Dares of Eternity mode is causing grief for players and this time it's not just underleveled new lights. Bungie has always strived to provide a challenge for the Destiny 2 player base, but few would have predicted that one of the more challenging aspects of the new mode would be a jumping "puzzle."

After completing the first combat portion of Dares of Eternity, players must make a jump from a boosted platform through a section of cutouts. Should they pass through, they'll have a significantly easier time running through the first obstacle course. Should they fail, they'll plummet down a cliff and then have to run through the harder of the two paths.

After enduring a not-insignificant 90 runs in Dares of Eternity, Reddit user u/gtlgdp posted the following sage advice to other guardians on the subreddit. "It took me 90 dares runs to realize you simply line up the half circles at the beginning of the obstacle course to guarantee making it through." Rather than lambast the user, the comments devolved into an argument about other various methods to cheese the jump. The most popular suggestions were to use a Warlock or Titan jump over the obstacle itself or to walk backward through the booster, though neither seems to have 100% success rates.

Dares of Eternity has proven to be a popular addition to the looter shooter. It breathes new life into one of the series' oldest characters, Xur, by pairing him up with a cosmic horse. Guardians are abducted into a gameshow provided by the Nine where they can win fabulous prizes by defeating combatants from across the paraverse and traversing numerous obstacle courses. In addition to the rewards provided during the mode such as various weapons inspired by Halo, players can earn tokens and levels used to purchase other gear inspired by Bungie's 30-year history.

The new mode has breathed some life into Destiny 2 as its upcoming Witch Queen expansion had been pushed back due to COVID impacting development. As such, there was a longer than anticipated drought of content between seasons. Some players have opted to take some time off, while others charged ahead and boosted their season ranking to unthinkable levels. But with the launch of Dares of Eternity and the recently passed Dawning, players had more reason than ever to log back into Destiny 2 and take on the dastardly jumping puzzle concocted by the nefarious developers at Bungie.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
