While Marvel’s Avengers was improved significantly throughout 2021, one area where it is still lacking is enemy variety. This extends to the game’s boss lineup, though some Marvel’s Avengers players believe they have a solution to the problem.

Thus far, Crystal Dynamics has made sure that each boss added to the game is deeply rooted in the ongoing narrative. As such, only a few bosses have been added since launch. The Super Adaptoid appeared in Kate Bishop’s Taking Aim DLC, while Maestro and Monica featured in Hawkeye’s Future Imperfect Operation. Klaw and Crossbones were added in War for Wakanda as well. With so many heroes in the game, though, and each having their own rogues’ gallery outside of The Avengers, players are understandably let down by how few named villains there are to fight.

Reddit user PMCforHire73 suggests the addition of a Villain Sector that includes a random assortment of Iron Man villains. While the Armored Avenger does not have an iconic rogues’ gallery by any means, his villains do have unique appearances and abilities. For players, these lesser-known adversaries would be more than enough to make the gameplay more fun, as many are tired of battling foes like Taskmaster and Abomination. If a batch of Villain Sectors was added that each focused on one of the hero’s rogues’ galleries, the lineup of proper supervillains would grow rapidly.

In the comments, Redditor Hiddenninja4 shows their support for the idea, saying that “B and C list villains” like those in the image would instantly make the game more fun to play. While major threats like Thanos or Ultron would need a proper introduction alongside a cutscene-filled Operation, throwing in someone like Living Laser would not require the same level of effort. A collectible or event could explain that AIM has hired random villains to help fight the heroes, with no further explanation needed for the addition of the potential bosses.

As pointed out by PMCForHire73 in the comments, the Iron Man villains shown in the image would have been an even more logical fit for the game due to the tie-in comic. The Gamerverse comic incorporated Spymaster, Titania, Whirlwind, Beetle, and Absorbing Man, so there is past history between the characters already. While it is possible that Absorbing Man and Titania could be added alongside She-Hulk, as they frequently cross paths in the comics, the rest of the Lethal Legion would be nice to see as well - with Jace-1999 believing it was a missed opportunity not to feature them from day one.

Hopefully, Marvel’s Avengers’ 2022 roadmap emphasizes more enemies and bosses, as the game needs them more than anything else. While it makes sense to provide detailed stories for the more iconic villains, players would clearly enjoy more frequent updates that add minor foes to the game’s Warzones.

Marvel’s Avengers is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
