With 2021 drawing to a close, Bethesda recently pointed to the continued successes of Fallout 76. In particular, the company reiterated all the things it has done to update Fallout 76 in an attempt to make it better and more fun to play.

When Fallout 76 first launched, it was met with quite a few Fallout devotees who were unhappy with what they thought the game represented and what it was missing. In apparent response to a flood of complaints about things like the lack of NPC characters in the game world, as well as various bugs, the company brought quite a few fixes and new features in 2021. In pointing out those changes, Bethesda also went out of its way to thank players for sticking with the game.

Right at the top of the list of updates and improvements Bethesda said it made to Fallout 76 was an inventory facelift. This "facelift" was rolled out in January and included a 50 percent increase of everyone's stash boxes, as well as the ability to better sort the inventory and items that people managed to collect. That sorting also made it easier to separate regular clothes from armor, which ended up coming in handy when Bethesda rolled out updates over the rest of the year.

Along with new weapons and armor coming to the world of Fallout 76, the game's seasons added new story content and missions to the mix. Some of those missions involved players traveling through time, both forwards and backward with the ultra-famous K.D. Inkwell. Of course, not all of the new missions and updates had players traveling through time, as one of the biggest updates of the year introduced a faction that is famous in Fallout lore: the Brotherhood of Steel.

The latest Brotherhood update picked up where the story in Fallout 76 left off last year. Along with those new story missions, the Steel Reign update also brought even more new armors and weapons into the online world of the game, giving players a fair bit of content to enjoy.

Other story missions, characters, weapons and armor were all added into the game over the course of the year. As Bethesda wrapped up its post about all the changes it made in 2021, it pointed out that Season 7, which launched on December 8, essentially brought the game full circle. This is because the main character in the new Season 7 content is Doctor Zorbo, a character first introduced in Season 1 of Fallout 76.

Fallout 76 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
