Epic Games’ metaverse will expand next year with Iron Galaxy’s free-to-play Battle Royale brawler, Rumbleverse. An early access beta is planned for 8th February on the PlayStation 5, but this title will also eventually release on the PS4 once development has wrapped up. You can check out the announcement trailer above, and some gameplay in the video below.

Unsurprisingly, this goes heavy on the oversaturated Fortnite style, but the action couldn’t be less different: it’s all about wrestling moves rather than lootin’-‘n’-shootin’. “Rumbleverse is an all-new, free-to-play, 40-person Brawler Royale where anyone can be a champion,” the press release teases. “You play as your own unique citizen of Grapital City, as you battle your way to victory!”

You’ll be able to customise your character by mixing and matching cosmetic items, and you’ll be able to equip new moves and perks to define your own personal playstyle. It lacks a little identity in our opinion – the artstyle is far too similar to the likes of Fortnite and Knockout City – but it’s a different take on the Battle Royale and could prove popular if the gameplay is tight.
