It’s been revealed that Parks and Rec actor Nick Offerman has been added to the cast of the upcoming The Last of Us TV series at HBO.
The news was broken by Variety, and later confirmed by Naughty Dog themselves. Offerman will be playing the role of ‘Bill’ – a fellow survivor Joel and Ellie encounter in the first game. The character will appear, according to the report, alongside his partner Frank who’ll be played by Murray Bartlett.
Interestingly enough, the report mentions the role was originally going to Con O’Neill who was previously seen in 2019’s Chernobyl. Reportedly, O’Neill had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts, leading to Offerman taking on the role instead.
Production has been well underway on The Last of Us TV show at HBO since September. Other members of the cast previously confirmed include Merle Dandridge reprising her role from the game as Marlene. The two lead roles of Joel and Ellie will be taken up by Pablo Pascal and Bella Ramsey, respectively.
There’s still no date for The Last of Us on HBO at the time of writing. Hopefully, we’ll find that out as well as a UK broadcaster for the series, soon enough.
