Assassin's Creed Origins PS5 60fps Update

Ever since Ubisoft pushed a surprise PlayStation 5 update for Assassin's Creed Odyssey — allowing the PS4 game to run at 60 frames-per-second on Sony's current-gen console — fans have been wondering whether Assassin's Creed Origins will get the same treatment. Odyssey's update arrived back in August, so what's the hold up?

It's getting to a point now where Ubisoft can't mention Origins without fans clamouring for that sweet 60fps. Every time the game is referenced through official social media accounts — whether it's to highlight fanart, cosplay, or anniversaries — there are always a number of fans asking where the update is, even though Ubisoft has never promised anything.

Origins is regarded by many as the best open world Assassin's Creed game. Out of the new trilogy — that's Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla — Origins is the least removed from the traditional Assassin's Creed formula, even though it introduces a lot of RPG elements. Its recreation of ancient Egypt is also quite stunning.

We certainly wouldn't say no to a 60fps patch for Origins — it's got to be one of our favourite Assassin's Creed games — but we're sure it's not as easy to implement as it sounds. We'd speculate that Odyssey got an update because a decent number of people are still playing it, and we would assume that it's still making money through various microtransactions. Origins was never designed to be quite so 'live service' as its sequel, so maybe that's why this update hasn't happened yet.
