Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that Apple Music is launching on PlayStation 5 consoles from today.
The service joins the existing Spotify application as an alternative service for users to listen to their music. As per the PlayStation Blog, subscribers can access a library of more than 90 million individual songs. There’s also tens of thousands of curated playlists, 4K music videos and Apple Music Radio too. You can also of course make personalised playlists as well.
You can start the app up when you boot up your console, or bring it up during gameplay and listen as you play. All you have to do is use your DualSense’s PS button to bring up the Control Center, head to the music icon and select Apple Music from there. If you’re playing a music video, you can watch it in full screen, or the audio will continue playing while you change to something else. If you want to continue watching the video, head back to the home screen and it’ll resume with no interruptions.
Back in July, it was announced that all PlayStation 5 owners can claim six free months of Apple TV+ allowing them to enjoy shows like Ted Lasso for no extra cost. Sadly, there’s no free subscription offer here, but it’s still nice to have more options to play music on your console.
Apple Music is available on the PlayStation 5 from today.
