Amazon Game Studios' first MMO, New World, is celebrating its first month from release tomorrow, and it has already broken a few records. On release day, the servers were not ready to handle over 700,000 players logging into the game to try it after months of waiting and beta testing, but Amazon quickly added new servers within just two days to compensate for that. However, New World is far from being a game with no issues or things that need to be addressed and fixed to improve the overall experience.

An example comes precisely with a server-related issue, one related to server transfers and how they allowed New World players to duplicate Gold. Those who exploited this eventually got banned, and the server transfer option was disabled momentarily in order to avoid the bug spreading. Another example comes from how hard it is to keep a decent stack of Azoth with it being a capped resource and costs being so high in the current state of the game.

In fact, the Azoth cap situation has been brought up by the community a lot over the past few weeks, and especially so now that many players reached level 60, be it without ever killing anything or through more classic means. As such, a Reddit user by the name of -shylo- shared a post stating that the travel tax that must be paid in Azoth has made the game less fun for them. This stems from the fact that New World features no mounts, and players have to either travel immense distances on foot or pay incredible amounts of Azoth per fast travel, depending on what they can afford.

This is bad because it takes a long time to farm Azoth back to the cap, but the resource is also used for crafting or respeccing, which many people do. Things are made even worse by New World's faction occupation of territories because belonging to a different faction than the one controlling the fast travel destination will bring up the cost. Furthermore, distance from the destination and weight affect the cost as well.

Fast travel costs are so bad that some players find it more convenient to let their New World characters die than traveling back to town on foot or paying ridiculous fees. As such, New World players demand changes to this mechanic or at least a huge increase in the Azoth cap.

New World is available now on PC.
