The next major crossover event has been revealed for PUBG Mobile, the portable version of the popular battle royale. While the most recent major PUBG expansion brought a new casual game mode, this upcoming update incorporates exclusive themed items based on one of the Internet's biggest global sensations.

Fortunately for players of the acclaimed player versus player shooter, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has not seen any shortage of updates and patches lately. Update 14.1 has only just been released, which was met with almost universal praise from fans as it introduced multiple Halloween-themed map changes to PUBG. All-in-all, these qualities and constant DLC are what keep the sprawling multiplayer shooter fresh.

However, the Corporation's latest plan for PUBG Mobile is a little odd, considering its age-rated target demographic is sixteen and above. Nevertheless, according to the developers, the viral children's phenomenon Pinkfong Baby Shark is officially partnering with PUBG Mobile. For the uninitiated, Pinkfong Baby Shark is the most-viewed YouTube video, with the song having been watched over 9 billion times. This essentially broke the dancing fish into the mainstream music scene, with it even lasting 20 weeks on the US Billboard Hot 100.

Having said that, this ambitious crossover does also mean some cool marine-themed goodies are set to hit the game. Much like the previous PUBG Mobile crossover with K-pop group Blackpink, the update includes inspired items such as a "Baby Shark Parachute, Baby Shark Pan, Baby Shark Set, and Baby Shark Graffiti." Despite a few of these being ridiculously wacky clothing items, one that does certainly stand out from the bunch is the Baby Shark Pan. Now, players can wield the cast-iron weapon to comically annihilate an opponent while paying tribute to the infant dance song.

Miraculously, those already getting ready to open their wallets to buy said listed items might want to hold back. This is because it was further confirmed that players can earn these free and, in some cases, permanent rewards by participating in the in-game event and completing daily challenges with friends. These missions usually consist of challenging tasks such as surviving to the top 10 in PUBG or lasting over 15 minutes in a match without dying.

Lastly, there is an extra opportunity to win a special exclusive item for PUBG Mobile. This window entails that players record, and share on social media, an in-game recreation of "the song’s iconic dance moves" by using the new ‘Baby Shark Dance’ motion.

PUBG Battlegrounds is currently available on Mobile, PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
