Undoubtedly one of the most popular streamers and content creators online, Rachel "Valkyrae" Hofstetter is likely already considered by fans as a household name within the gaming community. Now, she continues to bring her reputation outside of the video game sphere and onto the overall lifestyle market, with an announcement that she has co-founded a skincare collection. Though skincare products may not be something new for mainstream audiences, Valkyrae's products will uniquely target protection against harmful blue light pollution.

Content creators and video game streamers seem to have already become celebrities in their own right. They have massive followings that can reach up to several millions, whether they are on Twitch, YouTube, and even on social media platforms like Twitter or Instagram. Given this kind of clout, it is not surprising for content creators such as Valkyrae to try and venture outside of their main audience, especially when they find a need in the consumer market that they want to penetrate. In this case, it would be addressing the issue of protecting everyone's skin while they stay in front of their screens.

On Twitter, Valkyrae casually announced the launch of her skincare collection titled RFLCT. The post was simple, yet seemed to teem with her excitement as she stated that she has waited two years for the release of the collection. Designed to protect the user's skin from blue light pollution, Valkyrae explained that the products came from her own personal need, and branched out to her wanting to help everyone like her whose lives are mostly lived in front of screens and monitors. Unlike her collaboration for the custom Valkyrae expensive gaming chair, RFLCT is co-founded by the content creator.

On the website, the skincare lineup consists of five products - a facial cleaner, moisturizer, eye treatment, eye mask, and lip balm. The RFLCT Aura Reset Facial Gel Cleanser and RFLCT Screen Shield Defense Face Moisturize are both made with a trademarked ingredient called BLPF or Blue Light Prevention Factor, which is an antioxidant that specifically shields skin from blue light damage from screens. Given that most gamers spend more than 8 hours in front of a screen, especially with the advent of good split-screen games in the market, these products seem useful.

Known for being one of the few content creators that was able to co-own gaming organization 100 Thieves, creating a niche in the beauty market seems like it is right up Valkyrae's alley. Hopefully positive reviews about RFLCT will come in soon, so fans can see if it is worth shelling out for the blue light protection skincare products.
