Monster Hunter World hits 20m copies shipped

2018's Monster Hunter World has shifted more than 20 million copies since its release.

In a release to investors, Japanese publisher Capcom reaffirmed that this was a record-breaking figure for the company and that it was its best-selling title of all time. This was a milestone that Monster Hunter World crossed when it blew past 12 million copies at the end of 2018.

The firm says that the title's success has been down to its simultaneous worldwide release, as well as bundles with the Iceborne expansion.

Monster Hunter World made its debut on PS4 and Xbox One back in January 2018 before launching on PC the following August. By the end of March 2019, the title had shifted 12.4 million copies in total, with 4.5 million of those being on PC. The game hit 13 million units in June 2019.

Apparently, PC was Monster Hunter World's second-largest platform as of March 2019, presumably sandwiched between PS4 on top and Xbox One on the bottom.

Monster Hunter World boasts twice the number of sales as Capcom's second highest-seller, Resident Evil 7, which launched back in 2017 and recently reached 10 million units shipped.
