PlayStation has launched a new Game Trials feature on the PlayStation 5, allowing folks to try games for a limited time before they buy them.

The feature went live over the weekend on the PlayStation Store in the UK. Ostensibly, it allows users to download Death Stranding: Director’s Cut and Sackboy: A Big Adventure and play them for free for six and five hours respectively. Both trials are available on the PlayStation Store from now until 11:59pm UK time on October 28. Any save data and trophies earned will also carry over into the full version of the games if purchased.

However, as Eurogamer notes there appear to be a few caveats. Firstly, users are only allowed one trial per user account for the PS5 versions of these games only. More concerning, however, is that the timer seems to start not when the games are launched, but when the download starts. Obviously, this could create an issue of those on slow internet connections.

Users on Reddit have found something of a workaround for the time being. As per jsnals, you can make a new account with the same region as your current one. Then switch to your main account, and click to get the trial. As the data is already on the console, you won’t need to download again, and it’ll let you access the trial. It’s not an ideal solution, so hopefully Sony change the timer in the future.

Death Stranding: Director’s Cut launched at the end of last month on PlayStation 5. It adds a bunch of new features to the game, including new delivery tools and a race track.
