Crystal Dynamic and Square Enix have an endless source of inspiration for new content when it comes to Marvel's Avengers, especially when it comes to the skins. Players can bring out Hulk's gangster side as Mr. Fixit or don Iron Man's armor from Marvel Comics' 2014 Original Sin crossover storyline. That said, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been Crystal Dynamic's biggest source of inspiration, and Captain America's newest skin sees Steve Rogers dirty and ready for a fight with Thanos.

Since Marvel's Avengers launched in August 2020, Crystal Dynamics has offered a vast array of skins for the game's heroes pulled directly from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the most recent updates saw Natasha Romanoff don her white suit from 2021's Black Widow, which also introduced the world to the woman who may take up the mantle, Yelena Bolova. Other films Crystal Dynamics have pulled from include 2012's Avengers, 2018's Black Panther, and the film which started it all, 2008's Iron Man.

Captain America's latest suit comes directly from 2018's Avengers: Infinity War, which saw Steve Rogers still on the run after the events of Captain America: Civil War. This is reflected in his suit, which is beaten and dirty from some close calls with the authorities while in hiding alongside The Falcon and Black Widow. Crystal Dynamics also did its best to live up to the beard Chris Evans grew for his version of a fugitive Steve Rogers.

As far as looks go, Crystal Dynamics chose what is arguably one of Captain America's more popular looks from the massive Marvel film franchise. Steve Rogers' appearance from the 2018 blockbuster reflects a hero who is still willing to fight for what he believes but, as he put it, is "way past asking for permission."

It's probably fair to say Crystal Dynamics isn't done pulling from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially as more content and heroes find their way into the game. The films will continue to be well represented and it won't be suprising when skins inspired by the various Disney+ series begin to appear in game updates going forward.

In regards to Captain America, Steve Rogers could be used as a stand in for some other characters already featured on Disney+. It would make for an odd visual, but he could represent John Walker from 2021's The Falcon and The Winter Soldier to let players fill the boots of the volatile Captain America. It would also give players another taste of the U.S. Agent suit audiences are likely to see more of inside of the MCU.

Marvel's Avengers is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
