With close to ten years between Red Dead Redemption 2 and the extremely well recieved Red Dead Redemption, many of the game's fans have likely already aged and grown up, building families of their own. Now, the offspring of an RDR2 fan seems to be carrying on with the same fandom as their parents, creating an incredible crochet blanket inspired by the action-adventure title for their father.
Red Dead fans are known to be part of quite a creative and active community. Forums are always littered with amazing fanart, while NexusMods is constantly updated with fun experiential mods that provide different ways to play the game. Some fans even go so far as to make Red Dead Redemption-inspired items that are wearable, or can be used as part of daily life, with one such fan painting Red Dead artwork on sneakers to showcase their love for the video game.
On Reddit, user turtletoisetoad shared a photo of the crocheted blanket with the Red Dead Redemption 2 community. The blanket is rectangular with most of its colors in red, yellow, and black. In the center, a yellow sunset floats on a brilliant red background as seven silhouettes are seen walking in the horizon. At first glance, RDR2 fans would know exactly which artwork was replicated in the crocheted piece, as it is often used in many marketing materials, and alludes to the game's protagonist and the members of the Van der Linde gang. The Redditor mentioned that the blanket is a gift for their dad.
Many fellow Red Dead Redemption 2 fans only had praises for the blanket, saying that it was an incredibly well-made piece. Some even requested the artist to start selling the blanket to their fellow fans. However, other Redditors pointed out that the item would likely be priced at a high range, given the time and effort needed to create such a custom blanket. To confirm this, the original poster mentioned that it took them around 80-100 hours in a span of two months to finish the blanket for their father.
Even so, this crocheted piece provides an amazing look at how influential the Red Dead Redemption series seems to be. Transcending age groups, the children of older players are now also invested in the Wild West-themed franchise. This just goes to show just how ageless Red Dead is, and that its fans likely consider it as one of the best video games in the industry, no matter the time period.
