The Hollywood Reporter has learned Tomasz Baginski, who worked on The Witcher, will be directing the film from a script penned by Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken, who worked on 10 Cloverfield Lane. The Knights of the Zodiac project is also joined by martial arts choreographer Andy Cheng, who recently worked as the fight coordinator for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The cast includes Mackenyu as Seiya, Bean as Alman Kiddo, Diego Tinoco as a Mysterious Assassin, and Madison Iseman as Sienna. Rounding out the cast is Famke Janssen, Nick Stahl, and Mark Dacascos, although their roles have not yet been released.

The story revolves around a street orphan and a protagonist named Seiya, who embarks on a conquest after elusive and magical energy called Cosmo is integrated within him. The goal of Seiya's journey is to acquire the armor of the Greek mythological beast Pegasus and subsequently decide the fate of a young god Sienna, who has been having difficulties controlling her powers. The original 1980s fantasy manga and anime, created by Masami Kurumada, explored stories of a variety of warriors, or The Bronze Warriors (Bronze Saints in the manga), that have incredible powers garnered from the constellations in the sky.

The Bronze Warriors work to defend a reincarnated Athena from other gods who have sinister intentions to take over Earth. Seiya is recruited as the first of these Knights, and the story of how that came to be is the tale that will be explored in the Knights of the Zodiac film.

With a surge of live-action anime series being announced, like Cowboy Bebop and One Piece, The Knights of the Zodiac is sure to stand out as a unique fantasy series. Not to mention that the film will explore something the anime series never covered completely.

The Knights of the Zodiac does not have an announced release date at this time.
