Nintendo has announced it’s expanding Nintendo Switch Online with N64 and Sega Mega Drive games in a new Expansion Pack plan in late October.

The new membership plan will be offered in addition to the current basic subscription. As well as the benefits of the current subscription, the Expansion Pack adds a number of N64 and Sega Mega Drive games. Some of these games, including classics such as Mario Kart 64 and Mario Tennis 64, will also include multiplayer.

At launch, the Nintendo 64 line-up comprises of:

  • Super Mario 64
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
  • Mario Kart 64,
  • Lylat Wars,
  • Sin and Punishment,
  • Dr Mario 64,
  • Mario Tennis 64,
  • Operation: WinBack
  • Yoshi’s Story

Just like with the SNES and NES libraries, more games will be added post launch. Some of the confirmed titles in the coming months include The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, Banjo-Kazooie, Pokémon Snap, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Mario Golf, Paper Mario and F-Zero X.

On the Mega Drive side, the launch titles are:

  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2
  • Streets of Rage 2
  • Ecco the Dolphin
  • Castlevania: Bloodlines
  • Contra: Hard Corps
  • Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine
  • Golden Axe
  • Gunstar Heroes
  • M.U.S.H.A.
  • Phantasy Star IV
  • Ristar
  • Shining Force
  • Shinobi 3: Return of the Ninja Master
  • Strider

Nintendo are also offering a couple of new wireless controllers you’ll be able to pick up too. One of these is thought to be the patent spotted just last week. The N64 and Sega Mega Drive control pads will both be available from the My Nintendo Store in the near future.

Pricing for the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack will come closer to launch. Expect the new plan to arrive in late October, and check more details at 1:00:34 in the video below.
