The Lightning Compass Puzzles found across Seirai Island are some of the most confusing puzzles that Genshin Impact players will encounter. To solve the puzzles, Genshin Impact players must utilize nearby electricity to set each of the compasses to face the correct direction.
Players will find three separate Lightning Compass puzzles on Seirai Island. The rewards for completing each of the puzzles vary from common to exquisite to luxurious chests. This guide will outline the locations of each of the three compass puzzles and the solutions for solving them.
Seirai Island 5 Compass Puzzle
The most challenging of the three puzzles is found on the northern shore of Seirai Island. This puzzle can be found by fast traveling to the Koseki Village waypoint and proceeding north.
At this location, players will notice a locked electro totem in the water surrounded by five compasses. To start the puzzle, swim out to the electro totem. When players reach the totem, a series of enemies will spawn that players must defeat in order to unlock the totem.
After unlocking the totem, use any electro-spec character to activate the totem in the water. Because the totem is submerged, ranged electro characters like Fischl are ideal to activate it.
Once the electro totem has been activated, swim up to it to become imbued with electricity. Players must now swim out in the direction of each of the five compasses to make them face towards the electro totem.
It is important that when attempting to set each of the compasses, players swim in a straight line from the electro totem. This will prevent players from accidentally adjusting the placement of a neighboring compass.
Players should also note that once a period of time has elapsed, the electro totem will be extinguished and players will have to reactivate it. Once all five of the compasses are set, a luxurious chest will spawn nearby.
Fort Hiraumi Compass Puzzle
The second compass puzzle on Seirai Island is found northwest of the Fort Hiraumi waypoint. At this location, players will find three compasses that must be set in the correct direction.
In order to set the compasses, players must activate the Electrogranum plant nearby to become imbued with electricity. For the compass nearest to the Electrogranum plant, set the direction to face northeast.
The northern compass (nearest to the shore) must be set facing west.
The final compass must be set facing south, towards the direction of the first compass.
After setting each of the compass positions, a common chest will spawn nearby.
Seiraimaru Compass Puzzle
On the shore next to the Seiraimaru ship, players will find the third and final compass puzzle on Seirai Island. At this location, players will find three compasses that must be set in the correct direction.
To be able to set the compasses in the area, players must travel to the small island west of the puzzle location. On the island, players will find an Electrogranum plant.
After interacting with the Electrogranum plant, players will be able to quickly glide to the compasses back on the shore.
Once players are back on the shore, stand in front of the glowing purple rocks in order to set the first two compasses in the correct position. When both of the compasses have been set, it is important to remain in place until the Electrogranum expires so that the compasses do not move.
Return back to the small island and activate the Electrogranum for a second time. With the Electrogranum, carefully return back to the shore and set the final compass hidden behind a tree, to face the glowing purple rock as well. This can be somewhat tricky, as the previous two compasses can be easily moved.
Once players have set all three of the compasses in the correct position, an exquisite chest will spawn next to the purple rock.
