The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Anthony Mackie has been cast in the lead role in PlayStation Productions’ upcoming Twisted Metal TV series.

As reported by Deadline, Mackie will be playing the part of John Doe. The character is described as “a smart-ass milkman who talks as fast as he drives. With no memory of his past, he gets a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make his wish of finding community come true, but only if he can survive an onslaught of savage vehicular combat.”

It was announced that a live action TV series based on the vehicular combat series was in the works back in February. Each episode will be about half an hour, with the series coming from Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Cobra Kai writer Michael Jonathan Smith will also pen and executive produce the series alongside the pair.

Sony TV’s EVP of Comedy Development Glenn Adilman gave a quote on Mackie’s casting. “We’ve been big fans of Anthony’s phenomenal body of work over the years and knew he was the only actor who could play a character as complex, funny and compelling as John Doe. Fortunately for us, he agreed.”

The last we saw of Twisted Metal in the gaming sphere was back in 2012’s reboot for the PlayStation 3. We haven’t heard much since, but Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grub (as reported by Video Games Chronicle) has rumoured a new game in the series may be in the works timed with this TV series. There’s no date for the Twisted Metal TV series’ debut just yet, so stay tuned for more info.
