Developer Red Hook Studios has announced that Darkest Dungeon II will launch into Early Access on October 26.

The follow-up to the 2016 RPG, the sequel promises to “drive you to the brink of madness”. Once more, you’ll have to armour you and your party up, make sure everyone’s well equipped and then make your way through the monsters and challenges of the dungeons. Aside from that though, the studio has remained relatively quiet on what we can expect outside of a couple of teaser videos.

The first of these videos landed all the way back in February 2019. Back then, we were promised a “tuned up” version of the original’s turn based battle system. We were also teased a “completely different metagame structure” as our heroes endure a “gruelling journey”. Road trip, anyone?

Either way, we’ll learn more when Darkest Dungeon II launches into Early Access on October 26. It’ll be an Epic Game Store exclusive for a while, we’re told. However, it will come to other storefronts once the game hits full release. The original game also made its way to consoles including the Switch about a year after release, so fingers crossed for similar news here.
