Despite having a set protagonist in its single-player mode, Red Dead Redemption 2 allows players to customize the main character Arthur Morgan to an exceptional degree. As such, savvy players have found a way to make Arthur look remarkably like Walter White from TV show Breaking Bad.

It’s likely that anyone who has played Rockstar’s open-world western, Red Dead Redemption 2, has experimented with the vast amount of different clothing and hairstyle options in the game. With so many options available, Rockstar allows for players to modify the protagonist, Arthur Morgan, exactly how they see fit.

A Reddit user going by the name aelxmemdedgud has posted a screenshot of his version of Arthur Morgan on the site. With a shaven-bald head, scruffy goatee, and burnt, weathered skin, this depiction of Arthur looks nearly identical to Breaking Bad’s Walter White, played by actor Bryan Cranston. Redditors have taken to the post, giving it over 3,000 upvotes and over 130 comments.

Both Breaking Bad and Red Dead Redemption 2 were met with resounding critical acclaim. Breaking Bad is widely considered one of the best television shows of all time and ran for five beloved seasons, ranging from 2008 to 2013. Red Dead Redemption 2, actually the third game in the Red Dead series, was released in 2018 by gaming behemoth Rockstar Games. It is tied for the highest-rated game on previous generation consoles PS4 and Xbox One, matched only by another Rockstar title, Grand Theft Auto 5. With both properties being so beloved, it was inevitable that someone would use the game’s excellent character customization suite to recreate fan-favorite Walter White.

Players love customization in video games, as it gives them a way to make the experience their own. Character customization in particular gives fans a way to creatively and artistically express themselves. The online multiplayer component of Red Dead Redemption 2 allows players to create other famous characters like Buster Scruggs, from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, by giving players a full-fledged character creator to mess with. While the single-player mode’s character customization of Arthur isn't quite on that level, it is clearly no slouch either, as shown by the results created by aelxmemdedgud.

Red Dead Redemption 2 isn’t the only game with great character customization either; Cyberpunk 2077The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, and Black Desert Online are other titles that are known for their incredible character creation tools. It will be interesting to see what developers Rockstar Games do to improve their customization with hotly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6, which still does not have a release date despite Grand Theft Auto 5 originally launching in 2013. While Grand Theft Auto 5 is getting a next-gen release on PS5 and Xbox Series S and X later this year, Red Dead Redemption 2 deserves its own upgrade.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
