While Overwatch players have come up with just about every form of fan art so far, the latest creation somehow finds a way to be unique. An Overwatch fan has taken a picture of a cat from the internet and transformed it into several different heroes, with all of them looking amazing.
The normal image of the cat is funny enough as is, as it sees the tiny animal standing upright. With its tail seen peeking around the side and its arms hanging by its side, the image is both strange and adorable. However, given the cat’s unique pose, the human-like stance makes it possible for some clever edits to be done. One hilarious Overwatch player did just that, turning the cat into specific heroes from the game’s massive cast. With five different edits, there is a lot of cat-based artwork to appreciate.
Made by Reddit user itzjonmp4, the first image transforms the cat into the popular Overwatch hero Mercy. The wings look amazing on the cat’s shoulders, while the armor is a perfect fit. The highlight is undoubtedly the halo, though, as it wraps around the feline’s ears. Another edit sees Zarya represented, with the cat having the “X” over its eye and the character's striking pink hair. The gloves worn by the weightlifter are also featured in the hand-drawn changes.
The fan actually drawing all the additions adds a lot to the edits, as pasting the actual details would likely be a lot less funny. Doomfist is an example of this, with the hero’s face paint looking amazing on the cat. Unsurprisingly, the gauntlet looks massive on the cat’s arm. Ana’s edit is even better, though. While her story may serve as some of the darkest Overwatch lore, she could not look any cuter in cat form. The eyepatch and rifle both look amazing on the cat, while the hood fits perfectly due to the holes made for the cat’s ears.
However, commenters like DemonicXanimal have the most praise for the Lucio, with the drawing’s popularity being understandable. Not only is Lucio a beloved character, but the changes made to the cat are easily the funniest of the bunch. Not only do the green goggles look great, but seeing a cat with dreadlocks is hard to forget. Aside from Lucio’s unique hairstyle and his armor being worn, a green ring is drawn on the floor around the cat. Clearly meant to resemble his Sound Barrier ultimate, it seems like itzjonmp4 had some extra dun making the Lucio cat.
With Overwatch having an in-universe cat thanks to Brigitte’s emote, perhaps it will one day wear some outfits like the one in this picture. Regardless, these posts are a terrific example of creativity, and they should get a smile out of any animal lover.
