About a week ago, Ubisoft teased fans by mentioning it might add one-handed swords in the next Assassin's Creed Valhalla title update. That's been a long time coming for many fans, as it's something many in the community have wanted since release. Well, now the content for Assassin's Creed Valhalla's title update 1.3.0. has been confirmed, and it does include a one-handed sword in a way.
The title update will launch in the early hours of July 27, but players won't be able to access them then (according to the title update notes, which only once references a one-handed sword). The title update will add level scaling to Assassin's Creed Valhalla, as well as add support for the forthcoming Sigrblot Festival and Siege of Paris DLC. Ubisoft also confirmed that DLC as releasing on August 12, which is likely to add even more one-handed swords to the game, but for those ready for it, they'll want to participate in the Sigrblot Festival.
Although added with the title update, the Sigrblot Festival doesn't begin until this Thursday, July 29. It'll then last until August 19/ a week after the Siege of Paris DLC releases. Players will be able to partake in "new festivities" and "quests" as with past festivals, with exclusive rewards. This includes a one-handed sword, which Ubisoft did notably list as "a one-handed sword." It seems, then, that players will be able to get one this week, but more of them will likely come with the release of the Siege of Paris DLC—although that is unconfirmed at this time.
It should be noted that players do have a few entry requirements for the festival. Luckily, unless players are just now picking up Assassin's Creed Valhalla, most players will have ticked off all these boxes easily. First, players must be in England, they must have completed one of the first two story arcs (Grantebridgescire or Ledecestrescire, and have their settlement at level 2.
Either way, this festival offers players a taste of how one-handed swords will work in Assassin's Creed Valhalla and will let them adjust to using it ahead of any more being added to the game. Luckily, with the festival lasting for about three weeks, fans who are otherwise occupied shouldn't worry too much about missing out. The sword should be obtainable at any point during the festival, and those who are super excited for it can probably snag it on July 29 with little problem.
