It's been an interesting week in the video game world, as long-running conversations reawaken and new industry-moving transitions begin to happen. While there wasn't much in the way of new video game releases, there's still a lot for Cameron and Anthony to discuss on Game Rant Arcade Episode 30.
Kicking things off, Psychonauts 2 features an invincibility toggle as an accessibility feature, though the response has been something of a mixed bag so far. It's reawakened a debate about the place of difficulty in modern games, which has been an ugly mix toxic comments and vitriol. However, the industry is trending towards more accessible games regardless.
Ubisoft has also been back in headlines this week, though for all of the wrong reasons. The company is at risk of bleeding talent due to news of its toxic workplace environment, as detailed in a report it released itself. However, it's unclear what measures are being taken to help combat the issue, outside of some fairly basic workplace training.
By far the most significant news of the week, Netflix is adding games, ideally within a year. The company is bringing on new talent to get games added as part of the service, which could be a huge shift for the industry at large. Notably, though, it's unclear what the scope of Netflix's ambitions is when it comes to games on the service. However, it could do what Google and Amazon have failed to thus far.
And, finally, a Nickelodeon game similar to Smash Bros. is on the way in the form of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, but it's unclear who it's for. The game will pack a healthy dose of nostalgia for those that have a soft spot for classic cartoons, which is all anyone can really ask for.
