In preparation for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin's release on July 9th, Capcom has revealed a fair deal of news about the game. Just before the game's trial version goes live, Capcom has shared the entire opening cinematic to give fans a taste of what to expect out of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin's story.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is a turn-based RPG spin-off of the Monster Hunter franchise for those looking for a more traditional and lighthearted Monster Hunter experience. Where the Monster Hunter main titles focus on Hunters, the Stories series focuses on Riders; people who bond with their monsters through kinship as the story focuses more on their friendship.

The opening cutscene shows players a ritual of the tribe the player character comes from, complete with singing and ceremonial dancing. The cutscene also shows female lead Ena finding an old and presumably blind Rathalos who gives her an egg, and that egg hatches into the player's Rathalos companion later on.

When the cinematic ends, the video reminds viewers that a trial version for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is releasing on June 25th, for those that are interested after seeing the beginning of Wings of Ruin's story. If that isn't enough for potential fans, plenty of trailers showcase gameplay mechanics and further story elements, as well as information about the game's pre-order bonuses for those that don't want to miss out by waiting to secure their copy.

The opening cutscene does its part to set the stage, as well as keeping a fair part of the story hidden for players to explore if they choose to play the game or even just the trial version. A fair deal of questions have yet to be answered by the Monster Hunter Stories 2 trailers that have been released so far, so fans will need to find the answers by playing the game themselves.

While the opening cutscene showcases some interesting details on how these events begin, some Monster Hunter fans might not be convinced yet if this game is something they'd be interested in. The opening cutscene may welcome the player into its world, but some fans might need to see more before getting fully invested. Luckily for those that are still on the fence, the trial version comes out in a matter of days for free, with transferable save game data if experiencing the title for themselves is what gets them to want to see more.
