Scarlet Nexus is a brand new action RPG from developer Bandai Namco, and it features two unique playable characters. Those characters are Yuito Sumeragi and Kasane Randall, and players must choose one of them at the very beginning of the game. For those fans that may need a bit of assistance with this decision, details on the differences between Yuito and Kasane in Scarlet Nexus can be found in what follows.

To start, it is important to mention that while Yuito and Kasane do have their own campaigns, they both focus on the same central story. This allows the two campaigns to function as complementing perspectives, which clarify and expand upon one another. As such, players that want a comprehensive understanding of Scarlet Nexus's story will ultimately need to play through the game as both protagonists, and either one is a perfectly suitable first pick.

With that said, fans that do not plan to complete the game twice will need to be a bit more careful with their selection, though it is difficult to offer a definitive recommendation on which protagonist has the better campaign. Indeed, Yuito's and Kasane's stories both have something to offer, and a case could be made for picking either one of them. Players that will stop at a single playthrough are thus advised to spend some time with the summaries of the Scarlet Nexus characters that are available in-game and simply choose the one that sounds most interesting.

These fans can also factor the playstyles of the two protagonists into their decision, as indeed they have differing focuses in combat. More specifically, Yuito uses a katana to engage in up-close, combo-centric battle, while Kasane calls upon knives to strike from a distance. Again, both of these options have their merits, and Scarlet Nexus players will be best served by picking the combat style that is aligned most closely with their preferences.

To note, it takes around 20 hours to complete Scarlet Nexus once, which means that players can get through it with Yuito and Kasane in the neighborhood of 40 hours. This is not an extremely significant amount of time, especially when compared to some of the longest JRPGs, and it is difficult to recommend anything but finishing the game with both protagonists. Even still, hopefully players that are only able to commit to a single playthrough now have a better understanding of how to go about picking their character.

Scarlet Nexus releases on June 25 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
