Several details regarding Halo Infinite have rolled out as 343 Industries anticipate a year-end release for the game. One of the details officially confirmed by 343 Industries this week is the return of the Big Team Battle game mode.

Halo 2 was the first title in the series to prominently feature Big Team Battles, and it looks like Halo Infinite will be stepping it up a notch. Halo 5's Big Team Battle upped the ante from previous titles with an impressive 16-player PvP action, but Halo Infinite's BTB offers a whopping 24-players. This game mode will pit twelve players against each other on a large map, all equipped with Halo Infinite's weapons and abilities.

Halo Infinite's Big Team Battle multiplayer game mode offers the largest number of players in the long history of BTB. Pieces of Big Team Battle were shown off during Xbox and Bethesda's E3 2021 game showcase and 343 Industries was quick to release more details to the public in a blog post. Halo Infinite developers have so far confirmed that BTB will see Pelicans deploying vehicles on appropriately sized maps, and players will be able to call in weapon ordnance from the sky.

Halo 5: Guardians' Warzone mode seems to have inspired several elements of Halo Infinite's Big Team Battle. Although Warzone was a popular game mode in Halo 5: Guardians, 343 Industries has said the game mode isn't a major focus. The core focus of Halo Infinite's multiplayer remains the smaller Arena game mode which puts four players against another four players. Arena is the game mode that traditional Halo titles focused on, but Big Team Battle has drawn a new audience in recent installments to the Halo franchise. With Halo Infinite offering both game modes, fans of both will still have something new to play with the upcoming release.

Not many details regarding Halo Infinite's Big Team Battle game mode have been confirmed by 343 Industries as of yet. It has gone fairly in-depth with Halo Infinite's multiplayer this week and plan to reveal more leading up to the holiday release. Many of Halo Infinite's weapons, abilities, and vehicles have been revealed, a new battle pass system was shown off, and new Halo fans will be able to practice for the multiplayer against bots in Academy mode. The recent Halo Waypoint also confirmed that 343 Industries will be going into more detail regarding Halo Infinite's BTB later this Summer.

Halo fans that are eager for the return of Big Team Battle will be happy to see the game mode come back with an increased player count. Halo Infinite won't likely receive a battle royale mode, but the increase in Big Team Battle's player count should be enough to draw in some battle royale fans. Halo Infinite may not be looking to focus on Big Team Battle but if the game mode intrigues enough players, it may become a focus in future content updates.

Halo Infinite releases during the holidays for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
