There are many iconic aspects of the Final Fantasy franchise, but one way that players can instantly recognize it is through its spells. As soon as players start to see names like Firaga, Thundaga, and Blizzaga thrown around, it's very clear what universe they are in. These trademark spells are available for players to use in the Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin demo, but they aren't available right off the bat. Players will first need to unlock them by acquiring a specific job. After this is done, they become powerful tools in Jack's ever expanding arsenal of destruction.

Magic in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is tied directly to the Mage job. Before unlocking this job, players can't use any kind of magic. The closest it gets is the abilities that the Swordsmen class has. These use MP but they are physical attacks rather than true magic.

In order to unlock the Mage job in the Final Fantasy Origin demo, players simply need to progress through the dungeon. Eventually, they should run into a wall of fire blocking their path, look to the left and there will be a chest. After opening the chest, players should get their first Mace type weapon, unlocking the Mage job as a result. Now players have access to Fire, Blizzard, Thunder, Water, Quake, and Aero, as well as the upgraded -ra and -ga versions of these spells.

Final Fantasy Origin Spell LIst

To cast spells, players need to hold down the R2 button. This will open up a radial menu with each of the six elements above. If the player releases the button immediately, it will cast the basic version of the spell, but charging it for longer will allow Jack to cast more powerful magic. Getting to the first level of charge will turn all of the spells into their -ra versions (Fira, Blizzara, Thundara, etc.), and getting to the second level of charge will turn them into -ga versions (Waterga, Quaga, Aeroga, etc.). These don't cost any extra mana to use, so players should always try and charge a spell up as much as possible before casting.

These spells are particularly useful because they can exploit enemy weaknesses in Final Fantasy Origin. What's more, as players level up the Mage job, they will eventually unlock the Black Mage job. This is essentially a more powerful variant of the Mage job, and will give players the ability to cast Flare. This powerful spell does non-elemental damage in a large area, but takes longer to charge and costs three bars of mana rather than just one.
