After years of rumor and development, Metal Gear Solid officially announced an adaptation movie this past December. The Director of the movie, Jordan Vogt-Roberts, sat down with Entertainment Weekly and teased what audiences can expect out of the highly anticipated action film. Vogt-Roberts expressed that he wants to keep the film as "Kojima" as possible. Hideo Kojima is the incredible game designer of the Metal Gear game series as well as other titles such as Death Stranding. The iconic stealth-shooter war hero aesthetic of the games, Vogt-Roberts explains, will be combined with elements of "punk rock" to keep the movie "twisty." With a $30 million budget, Vogt-Roberts certainly will not be holding back any expense and keeping a "buck-wild" mentality. Vogt-Roberts goes on to explain that the main point of video games centers around "killing a boss," which was never the point in the Metal Gear video games, making the game series memorable and unique. The raw emotion and devastation of the game attracted Vogt-Roberts to the prospect of making a film, and he hopes to capture this essence on the screen with Metal Gear Solid. The Metal Gear series is recognized widely as classic adventure video games that carry a fair amount of nostalgia to gamers growing up in the late '80s through the late '90s. With a resurgence of 90s culture, a fair amount of 90s adaptations and remakes have begun to take hold of video games and film alike. The video game series centers around special operations soldier, Solid Snake, as he attempts to infiltrate and sabotage an anticipated nuclear terrorist attack undetected.  Popular Star Wars actor Oscar Isaac was also revealed to be playing the main character during the announcement of the film in December. the undeniable reputation of Vogt-Roberts as a director that has worked on films such as Kong: Skull Island and the action/adventure background of Oscar Isaac's acting career are sure to promise an exhilarating experience for audiences. With Vogt-Roberts working on other projects, such as his live-action Gundam movie, it is unclear when viewers can expect Metal Gear Solid to go into development or announce a release date.
