Destiny 2 as a game has grown a lot ever since it was first released back in 2017, and today the meta is quite healthy as opposed to the past. However, there's one pet peeve among many players, which is about many Exotics not being very useful anymore. This concern was expressed on Reddit in a post that went viral, garnering lots of comments from fellow Guardians who agree that there should be some sort of overhaul of the less-used Exotics in the game. This sentiment is shared by the majority of the Redditors that lurk in the Destiny 2 community, but the original poster saw their feedback message responded to by dmg04, the community manager at Bungie.

The post is about how far too many Exotics in Destiny 2 are left unused, and they could use a little tweak to become much better, which in turn would increase build variety and possible outcomes in terms of PvE and PvP meta. Destiny 2's meta is an ever-shifting one, and if Stasis was dominating PvP up until a week ago, now many Guardians have decided to go back to the Light to fight in the Crucible. What dmg04's comment entails is that Bungie is open to feedback from players and would love to hear which Exotics should be buffed and why, especially among those that are mentioned more often as in need of an overhaul.

Destiny 2: Reddit User Proposes Exotic Overhaul And Bungie Responds

Conversations began on Reddit, with polls being made about the most underperforming Exotics so that players can pass their feedback along, who can then pass it onto developers. There are plenty of Destiny 2 Exotics that would need a buff or an overhaul because of how unusable they are; among them, the Tarrabah, the reintroduced Vex Mythoclast, Skyburner's Oath, D.A.R.C.I., Queenbreaker, and the list goes on. These are merely the tip of the iceberg, but there's a lot of work to do with Exotic armor pieces as well, especially those pieces that work with strange requirements like allies dying or reviving them.

Death is a quite punishing process in Destiny 2 if players are trying to complete a Raid, GM Nightfall, or any other harder endgame content. Having Exotics that work best when Guardians from a player's fireteam are dying or dead also means that they will never really be optimized nor picked over many other Exotics. Some weapons, like the Tarrabah and the Vex Mythoclast, can be extremely powerful on their own, but switching to different weapons makes them both lose their respective stacks, and thus makes a basic feature of the game penalizing.

Then, there are lots of Exotics that are still missing their catalyst, and weapons like the Deathbringer rocket launcher have proved just how important a catalyst can be for effectively turning an underused weapon into a DPS monster. For example, Thorn is still missing its catalyst, and it is one of the most legendary weapons in Destiny 2 in terms of lore, but in reality, it underdelivers compared to its own fame. Specific Exotic armor pieces could use some work as well, including things like Khepri's Horn, Apotheosis Veil, Bombardiers, Winter's Guile, Graviton Forfeit, and then more.

Exotic Stasis weapons also are way underperforming in Destiny 2, with Salvation's Grip being basically only used for the shards of Darkness on Europa, for the Beyond Light storyline, and then the Cryosthesia 77K had a good concept but bad execution. Overall, there's a lot Bungie could do here, and players should provide their feedback to make some of these Exotics worth grinding for once again or at least actually using them, instead of filling Vault space. Still, dmg04's comment proves that Bungie is listening.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
