Destiny 2 is frequently updated with the development team at Bungie constantly tweaking the balance of abilities, gear, and weapons as they roll out new content every season. This means the meta of Destiny 2 is always in flux, with the team having to balance a large variety of primary, special, and heavy weapons.

Players in Destiny 2 are able to equip one of each category of weapon, with special and heavy weapons getting less ammo but being considerably more powerful. Balancing all three types of weapons has not always been an easy process for Bungie, especially with the game featuring both PvP and PvE modes that each require their own particular balancing of Destiny 2's weapons.

Recently, Kevin Yanes and Chris Proctor, both developers at Bungie, sat down with the Firing Range Podcast to discuss their thoughts on the current state of Destiny 2. During the interview, they revealed a number of changes that are in the works. During the podcast, Yanes and Proctor say that the team is generally happy with where primary weapons are at in Destiny 2. However, they did say that the team may consider buffing scout rifles only slightly to make sure that the gun-type does not become too oppressive in Destiny 2's meta as it has in the past.

As for what changes the team is looking to make next, Yanes and Proctor said the team will likely look at special weapons and bringing them down in power. They say that they want to keep getting special weapon ammo a moment of power for players and that most special weapons should be able to kill an enemy guardian in PvP with a single hit, but that enemy guardians should be able to counterplay them. They also said confirmed that the community's calls for scout rifles, machine guns, and hand cannons to get buffed for Destiny 2's PvE content have been heard and that a change is coming.

The changes that Proctor and Yanes discuss in the podcast make a lot of sense, and it seems that Destiny 2 players will have a lot of weapon tweaks to look forward to in the future. They also discussed a lot of other aspects of the game, including the design goals behind Destiny 2's Stasis subclasses. It is always nice when developers open themselves up to their community, and Proctor and Yans appearing on the podcast is a great way for them to have done it.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
