No Man’s Sky received a stealth update recently bringing several visual improvements to the space exploration sandbox game in their Prisms update.

Writing in the PlayStation Blog, Hello Games’ Sean Murray wrote about the Prisms update. The list of updated visual features is pretty impressive and includes

  • Reflections
  • Fur
  • Flying Pets
  • Refractions
  • Rain + Weather
  • More Stars
  • Bytebeat Expansion
  • Parallax Occlusion Mapping
  • New Warp Effects
  • Improved Photo Mode
  • New Particle Effects
  • Improved Light Shafts
  • DLSS
  • Increased Biome Detail

DLSS was actually announced earlier in May, marking one of the first times a VR title would receive Nvidia’s machine learning upscaling tech.

In the blog, Murray outlined enhanced lighting, more detailed caves, more realistic water and weather effects, and much more. Photo Mode has received an upgrade as well. Murray listed quality of life improvements as well which include:

“A number of UI and quality of life improvements have been added. These include: an icon to show when new items have been added to an inventory; improvements to the UI when receiving several blueprints at the same time; and improvements to planetary charts so that they will not be used up if they fail to find a building and will now give more detailed error messages.”

No Man’s Sky has continued to receive years of support after its botched 2016 launch, marking an impressive comeback of sorts. Just recently, it received Mass Effect’s Normandy to celebrate the launch of Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
