Elder Scrolls Online Creates New Tutorial, Creating A 'Universal Experience' For All New Players Starting The MMO

When you load up a new character in The Elder Scrolls Online, typically you'd jump into the tutorial. That tutorial depended on what the latest Chapter release you owned. Now, though, ZeniMax has created what it calls a 'universal experience' for players in a new tutorial, regardless of which release you're starting with.

Each Chapter (Elder Scrolls Online's version of expansions) sees a new tutorial that coincides with the theme and flavor of that release. Now, though, ZeniMax is consolidating players in a single tutorial, regardless of which is the latest release they own. ZeniMax Online Studios states that this new tutorial will give " all new players (and characters) can get the best possible start to their adventures in Tamriel."

The new tutorial puts players on the Isle of Belfiera, last seen in The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall. The isle ZeniMax states is home to ancient Direnni ruins, where players will learn the basics of ESO by helping a new NPC, Norianwe, ahead of their adventure. Once you've completed the tutorial, you'll be greeted with a portal that will take you to the various starting points for the chapter of your choice.

"Once you’ve completed the new tutorial, you enter a final portal room that grants access to various starting locations based on what parts of the game you currently own. For example, as a base game owner, you choose from the three base-game Alliance starting locations. However, if you own any of the game’s Chapters, you also gain access to portals taking your characters to their respective starting locations, too. It’s that easy! Once you’ve completed the tutorial, you can begin your new character’s story in any part of Tamriel you’d like, but if you’re unsure where to start your journey, Norianwe shares some additional information on what kind of adventures you can find within each."

ESO is looking ahead to its upcoming Blackwood release next week on June 1st for PC, Mac and Stadia, while the console versions will launch a week later on June 8th. If you're waiting on the enhanced version for the current gen consoles, you'll be waiting a further week as Elder Scrolls Online: Console Enhanced was recently delayed so the team could focus in on making sure the launch goes as smoothly as possible.
