The open-world RPG Biomutant thrusts players into a slew of combat trees that focus on all kinds of close-range and long-range weaponry. Aside from melee and ranged combat, Biomutant also features PSI-Powers, a type of Mutations ability that can be unlocked with enough Psi Points.

Psi Points are earned in Biomutant by helping Captives or by interacting with PSI Shrines. While some powers only require points to unlock, others are locked by Aura score. That means Psi Points only unlock those powers if the character is at the appropriate Dark/Light level.

All Psi Powers in Biomutant

As expected from an RPG with a heavy combat focus, players are offered a variety of different Psi-Powers. Some can be used in conjunction with other Biomutant weapons and abilities, while others utilize the forces of nature to impact the battlefield directly. In any case, here's the rundown on all the Psi Powers in Biomutant.

  • Blaze - Launches the player forward, leaving behind a trail of fire.
  • Blink - Teleports the player in the direction they are currently moving, and creates a shockwave where they reappear.
  • Sizzle Ball - Throws a ball at the enemy in the direction the player is facing, inflicting damage on hit.
  • Freeze - Creates an AoE freeze effect that does cold damage to enemies, and makes the ground slippery, causing enemies to glide on it.
  • Spark Ball - Throws a ball at the enemy in the direction the player is facing, inflicting damage on hit. (This ability is only unlocked with the Psi-Freak class.)
  • Levitate - Allows the player to levitate, as well as allowing the player to still use ranged weapons and other abilities.
  • Telekinesis - Picks up a movable object or enemy, with the same input being used to launch it away.
  • Ki Spark - Shocks all enemies in front of the player, with the same input being used to stop it.
  • Skyspark - An airstrike ability that activates an impact marker for the player to confirm on the map.

With so many abilities available for players to unlock, not to mention the entire Biogenetics ability tree, players might want to take their time with Biomutant. In spite of all the freedom it offers, it's worth experimenting with builds in subsequent runs of the game rather than trying to hit all the bases at once.

That said, if properly utilized, Psi-Powers can easily be a devastating addition to any build. If nothing else, this ability tree may just be one of many things worth knowing about before starting Biomutant.

Biomutant is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
