It has been 600 days since the last new Crucible map was added to Destiny 2, and fans are not happy. Destiny 2 was again nominated as one of the best ongoing games last year at The Game Awards 2020, but many are wondering if Bungie has allowed the PVP mode to completely fall to the wayside.

Bungie's first-person shooter is a constantly evolving game, as the newest season of Destiny 2 saw the return of a fan-favorite Raid, fresh exotics, armor changes, Solstice of Heroes, and more. But perhaps what was most noticing for many fans is what was not there. Again, Crucible enthusiasts are left without a new map to compete in.

It has been a long time since Crucible saw a new map. In fact, 600 days ago on October 1, 2019, the Shadowkeep expansion of Destiny 2 brought Widow's Court, Twilight Gap, and Fragment to the game. The first two were reprised maps from the original Destiny, while Fragment was a completely new arena.

On top of the wait being excruciatingly long, the list of PVP maps to enjoy has actually shrunk in the last 600 days. 11 Crucible maps were vaulted when the Destiny 2: Beyond Light expansion was released last year. Many of the fans who are lamenting the idea that they have now waited 600 days for a new map are just as upset about the idea that maps were also taken away.

If the vaulted maps were replaced with new ones, many fans would likely be fine with it. But at this point, that is not the case. It has now been over a year and a half without a new Crucible map in Destiny 2. And especially given the fact that other areas of the game have received plenty of new content, and that is just not acceptable.

What is hard to swallow is that at the moment there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Bungie released its roadmap for Destiny 2 and no major Crucible content is coming for the entirety of Season 14. An Iron Banner event will take place every so often, but a new map is nowhere in sight from now until August 10 (the end of the roadmap). Perhaps Bungie has a surprise in store outside of the roadmap, and or a new Crucible map is on the horizon right after August 10. But even if that were to be the case, the 600 days and counting is beyond exhausting for the PVP community of Destiny 2 fans.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
