The Last of Us 2 players now have the ability to experience the game at a smooth 60 frames-per-second on PlayStation 5, Naughty Dog’s director of communications Arne Meyer announced today.
“The team has been digging into the PS5 hardware and the possibilities it unlocks since launch last year and we’re excited about what the future holds,” Meyer wrote. “This patch is just the first step of working on the PS5.”
This performance patch adds an option to the game’s settings menu that allows users to switch between 30 fps and 60 fps. The Last of Us 2 already takes advantage of the PlayStation 5 hardware in terms of improved resolution and loading speeds, but this boost to framerate should go a long way to making the brutal action game that much more beautiful.
And it sounds like Naughty Dog’s work on PlayStation 5 is just getting started. When asked about the above statement in the blog’s comments, Meyer added that the studio is “actively developing” on the next-gen console. Specifics, however, will have to wait.
