Larian Studios has just announced that the award-winning RPG, Divinity: Original Sin 2 Is available now on iOS.
After launching in an epic quest back in 2017 on PC, and taming the wild frontiers of console platforms across 2018 and 2019, Larian Game’s phenomenally successful RPG is now set to venture forth on iPads. After a couple of years toiling away with Saint Petersburg-based Elverils, Larian games now have a truly mobile version of their epic RPG, designed with owners of Apples on the go handhelds in mind. Coming in at around $24.99 or local equivalent, this new version of the second Original Sin title will include no microtransactions, and all included Gift Bag DLCs.
All that content is only as good as the overall gaming experience. Both Larian and Elverils chose the iPad as a target system to avoid skimping on performance. The new version of Divinity: Original Sin 2 will run at settings equivalent to ‘highest’ on iPad Pro (2018) and above. Put this game on the 2021 iPad Pro (M1), and Larian notes that you’ll get 60fps, even during local split-screen co-op.
While local split-screen co-op is a welcome vestige of PC and console iterations, the iOS version of Divinity: Original Sin 2 has plenty of its own tweaks. Most obvious is the new UI, supporting touch controls, as well as connected devices (gamepads, including the PlayStation 5 pad), as well as mouse & keyboard. There’s also cross-play compatibility and even cross-save options, so you can continue on the train or at home.
If you didn’t grab Divinity: Original Sin 2the first, second, or third time around then this is a great way to play, or indeed continue games on the move. Divinity: Original Sin 2 is the RPG that lets you bust out of jail by using your boney undead finger as a lockpick, talk to crabs, and have conversations with the people you may or may not have killed, in the form of ghostly dialogues. Featuring turn-based combat, some gorgeous top-down graphics, and a wonderful story-driven adventure, this is most definitely worth the outlay.
