Resident Evil Village releases on May 7 and many fans are excited to explore Lady Dimitrescu’s castle. With the success of the previous gameplay demos, Resident Evil Village has many fans anxiously waiting for the game’s release. For some players, waiting will be a bigger issue than it will be for others.

The PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X have been under comparison since the two consoles were announced, so it is no surprise that the two consoles continue to see comparisons favoring one console or the other. With the release of Resident Evil Village, users have naturally started comparing how well the game runs on each console.

Digital Foundry posted a comparison review on its YouTube channel showcasing an in-depth comparison of the launch version of Resident Evil Village on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The load times and frame-rate comparisons are making their way around social media. As it turns out, Resident Evil Village loads about 600% faster on PlayStation 5 than it does on the Xbox Series X.

Xbox Series X clocked in a load time of 8 seconds and 47 milliseconds in Resident Evil Village, allowing PlayStation 5 the chance to show off its impressive SSD architecture, cutting the load time down to 1 second and 57 milliseconds. With a load time comparison of 8.45 compared to 1.57, it’s a straightforward answer which one loads faster.

Some gamers may be ok with the slower load times if it means better performance while playing the game. In the case of Resident Evil Village, the performance in frame-rate and visual fidelity is a much tighter comparison with Xbox Series X providing a few more frames per second in heavy scenes when using Ray-Tracing.

The PlayStation 5 has been showing off its SSD capabilities in impressive ways. Gamers who have experienced the speed of the PlayStation 5 can find it hard to go back to the days of longer load times. With PlayStation 5 practically removing load times in most games and making fast travel virtually instant, it makes for an interesting argument of if players want the sheer speed or the slightly improved performance.

Luckily for gamers who have yet to get their hands on any of the new consoles, Resident Evil Village is also available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, as well as Stadia. With the growth of the new generation of consoles, this may be the last Resident Evil game released on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, so fans of the series may want to grab this game.

Resident Evil Village is available on May 7, 2021, for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
