While Halo 3 has been out for several years, it is mainly being kept alive by a dedicated modding community. Modders love to take inspiration from other titles and depending on the action and adaptability, the mods either succeed or fail. While Halo 3 continues to be a staple in space combat, it has always lacked in the undead touch that other FPS titles revel in.

Halo 3 does have Firefight horde mode and other unique options, but none provide the same satisfaction as taking on the undead. While Call of Duty has long held its ground as a defining zombies experience, the Halo community may no longer have to turn to Activision for undead assaults. A unique mod has combined Halo 3 with all the undead a fan could want.

The mod was developed by Crisp, a well-known modder for Halo 3, and a trailer was released to showcase it. Players are able to enter a variety of unique environments as the atmosphere changes and the undead are let loose. Now, these are not traditional undead soldiers; instead, the horde is made up of a never-ending source of the Flood. Players must survive as long as they can by killing enemies, earning currency, and buying the equipment as well as map locations. The modder has even included a mystery box for fans to use to claim random rewards and powerful tools. As more challenging enemies arrive round after round, it will take a dedicated Halo 3 fan to bring down the enemy assault.

The mod brings a unique blend of horror that only the Halo Flood can provide. The unique use of Flood mixed with the dread and tension of survival creates a unique atmosphere for horror. This is a battle for survival, and it will take intense practice to dominate it as the round count rises.

This is only one of many mods released for Halo: The Master Chief Collection and the other titles. The community spends hours of their time developing alternative game modes, and some are more crazy than others.

As players tear through this unique Halo 3 experience, the inspiration pulled from the popular Call of Duty Zombies game mode is obvious. The mod is free but will require players to own a copy of Halo 3 to access it. Once downloaded, players can enjoy this alternative experience into a never-ending wave-based assault of Halo's iconic invasive species.

Halo 3 is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
