Reports surfaced earlier today that Apple's AI companion, Siri, had leaked the date of the company's next event. In response, Apple released an official announcement of the event that confirmed the leaked date to be accurate.

The leaked date started when Apple users reported getting a response from Siri confirming a date for an event when asking the AI "when is the next Apple Event?" Apple's website at the time only referenced Apple's previous product showcase in October. The surprise event also follows Apple's announcement that its annual Worldwide Developers Conference will be online only this year, as a consequence of the ongoing pandemic.

The official announcement is sparse on details, but says that Apple will be holding a "Spring Loaded" event on April 20 at 10am PT from the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California. The event will also be hosted entirely online with no physical attendees. The event is expected to see Apple showing off the first new products of 2021 and likely will include the expected updated iPad Pro models alongside a new iPad and iPad mini on top of other products that aren't as safe of bets but have been heavily rumored over the past few months.

Along with the AirPods 3 and revamped iMac that are rumored to make an appearance at the event, the possible Apple VR Headset could be a standout of the event. Rumored to support 8k resolution with eye-tracking and at an extremely high price point, the headset would be a big leap VR games if the rumors are accurate. It is also possible that the sixth generation of Apple TV will appear at the event, as well as more information on the announced AirTags that can be stuck to an item to allow it to be tracked by Apple's popular "Find My" app.

There is a lot of news that can come from the upcoming Apple event, and it is nice that fans only have a week to wait before being able to see what the company all has to show. While its announcement was a tad atypical for the company, it does usually send pressers out to outlets one week before an event so it is likely that the leaked date did not come that far ahead of when it was originally planned. With Apple's involvement in an ongoing lawsuit against Epic Games as well as the worldwide health crisis that is COVID-19, it will be interesting to see if either will have a noticeable impact on Apple's typically impressive product schedule.
