Apex Legends leaks are starting to ramp up, as Season 8 slowly but surely begins to wind down and Respawn prepares for Season 9 to inevitably begin. Leaks are pretty common for Apex Legends, such as the recent War Games LTM leaks which detailed the event of its start date on April 13.

Now, another leak has seemingly revealed one of three brand new weapons currently in development and possibly coming to Apex Legends sometime in the future. This leak gives brief details on a new Light Machine Gun for Apex Legends called the "Dragon," which will allegedly use light ammo for the first time in the battle royale title's two year history.

The leak comes by way of prominent Apex Legends dataminer and leaker Biast12, otherwise known as Tobias, on Twitter. On April 11, Tobias tweeted claiming that three new weapons were currently in development for Apex Legends: a gun called the EPG, a Compound Bow, and the Dragon LMG. As a follow-up to that tweet, Tobias posted another tweet that appears to show a very early screenshot of the alleged Dragon LMG on a gun rack, claiming the gun uses light ammo. Out of Apex Legends' various weapons, there are currently only three LMGs in Apex's catalogue of 22 unique weapons.

Additionally, if this leak ends up being true the Dragon LMG would be the first LMG to use light ammo. Light ammo type weapons are the most populated group, consisting of six different weapons, just ahead of heavy ammo which consists of five weapons. The recent addition of the 30-30 Repeater rounded out the heavy ammo weapon list, providing a nice mix of automatic and semi-automatic weapons types. While its important to remember this Dragon LMG is nothing more than a rumor as of right now, it would certainly be a very interesting addition to the game for a variety of different reasons.

For one, LMGs are one of the easier weapon types for players to perform well with. Despite some LMGs having heavy recoil such as the L-Star and Devotion, their high rate of fire, magazine size, and damage output allows players to continuously hit opponents for solid damage as long as they remain even somewhat accurate. Additionally, a new LMG could end up being a very slight positive for Apex Legends' machine gun-touting Legend, Rampart, whose passive increases magazine size and decreases reload times for all LMGs. Having another tool in her arsenal can only be a positive for Rampart at this point, as she consistently underperforms in Apex Legends' current meta.

There's no telling when exactly this new LMG will make its way to Apex Legends, if at all, though there is plenty of room for speculation. Provided the leak is in fact accurate and there are three guns currently in develop, it seems unlikely that all three would be added to Apex Legends at the start of Season 9. Usually, only one new weapon is introduced per season, so the Dragon LMG could be the next weapon headed to the game considering there are alleged screenshots already floating around. Still, only time will tell if the Dragon LMG actually makes it into the game as Season 9 draws closer.

Apex Legends is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
