The newest Archives event in Overwatch took on a historical theme theme of historical, with a majority of the fresh cosmetics themed around soldiers from the past. Clearly feeling like Brigitte was left out of the bunch, an Overwatch fan named SilverGarnet12 has shared a stellar skin concept for the character.
This is not the first time that Overwatch fans have gotten creative with their tributes to the character. High effort Brigitte cosplays have seen the character brought to life in the real world, while players have redesigned her moveset via some Workshop creations. However, SilverGarnet21’s work with their Brigitte skin truly is top tier, and it would be great to see Blizzard eventually adding something resembling the design to the game.
Sharing the new Brigitte skin concept to the game’s subreddit, players should instantly notice the unique pattern seen throughout the skin. Like the name suggests, the entirety of the outfit is made out of stained glass, with the various shapes seen clearly throughout. Different shades and color choices make for a few stunning looks, though the artist does a fine job of spacing the glass out so that it is never overwhelming. Brigitte’s legs and arms are covered in black, for example, while other portions of the armor are brown.
While a bug tied to Brigitte’s shield may have recently seen her dying unfairly, there is no denying that the protective tool is a defining part of her kit. As such, it gets plenty of love through the concept, as the stained-glass is able to shine here more than it does anywhere else on the skin. A gargoyle is seen in the center of the shield, with a second stone creature seen on Brigitte’s chest — both of which keep the theme alive. A circular pattern on the glass above her waist is another smart choice, as it resembles the belt-like texture on her normal armor.
Brigitte’s signature mace weapon also gets some love, with a clever combination between the gargoyle and stained-glass patterns seen. In the center of the tool and on its handle, a stained-glass pattern is seen, while a gargoyle’s claws line the edges of the weapon. Looking both stylish and effective, the weapon is a fine touch for the skin. SilverGarnet12 also remembers to include a reskinned version of the device used for Brigitte’s Rally ultimate, something that few other Brigitte concepts acknowledge. A sandy blonde hair color completes the look, standing out from the hero's usual redhead appearance.
In the comments of the post, the Overwatch fan base can be seen praising the skin, suggesting clever names for the outfit such as “Notre Dame” and “Cathedral.” With the only downside to the skin concept being that it cannot be worn in-game, there is a lot to love about the fan’s hard work.
