Destiny 2’s season 14 is slated to start in a few weeks. As with most new seasons in Destiny 2, Guardians can expect a few changes to bring in the new season. Today, Bungie addressed some of the upcoming changes to the weapon perks Quickdraw, Frenzy, and Reservoir Burst.

There are a lot of different weapon perks in Destiny 2. Some are more popular than others, with Guardians trying to find their favorite perks on the new weapons that are released. Other perks are not as popular because they're arguably inferior. Bungie is making some changes to some of its perks and has given Guardians a preview of some of the changes coming to Season 14.

Currently, Quickdraw provides a +100 to the Handling stat and is intended to provide faster weapon swap speeds. Quickdraw has been a top-tier perk since the days of Destiny 1, proving that weapon swap speed is still crucial in Destiny 2; However, Bungie is changing the way the perk works in Destiny 2.

The Handling bonus from Quickdraw will be removed one second after switching to the weapon with Quickdraw or when aiming down sights. This should retain the perk’s identity but shorten its effect. The other change coming to Quickdraw is less of a change to the perk and more of a change to what weapons it is available on.

Starting in Destiny 2's Season 14, Quickdraw will be replaced with Surplus on new and existing drops of Felwinter’s Lie and Astral Horizon. While the Astral Horizon no longer comes with Quickdraw, older versions of this Shotgun still have Quickdraw, that perk will be swapped for Surplus in Season 14.

Frenzy is a new perk that has been proving valuable in many Destiny 2 PVE scenarios. Bungie has caught on to this and realizing that it is the better choice of damage perks, Bungie will reduce the damage bonus from +20 percent down to +15 percent. Bungie wants to keep the uptime of this perk while awarding it less of a damage boost because of how easy it is to activate.

The Reservoir Burst perk is currently only available on the sunset Fusion Rifle, Loaded Question. Bungie is increasing the magazine size of this perk in addition to its other effects; however, the full battery bonus damage is being reduced from 33 percent down to 25 percent.

Why Reservoir Burst is getting a rework now is a mystery. Many Guardians may suspect the return of the Loaded Question, or at least its unique perk. Bungie goes on to further state that the reduction of the full battery damage is because upcoming content requires revisiting the Power Level of a damage perk that can be activated simply by having a full magazine.

These perk changes are not all the perk changes coming in Season 14, so Guardians should be prepared for more changes to be announced between now and Season 14. Bungie detailed further upcoming changes to some Exotic weapons as well as all-new Iron Banner weapons arriving with Season 14.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
