Coming to PC and consoles later this year, players can secretly turn a dingy family-owned laundromat into a neon retro arcade in Nosebleed Interactive's upcoming indie game, Arcade Paradise. And while it may look like a regular management game, it features a fun twist that nostalgic gamers are likely to love.
Earlier today, publisher Wired Productions held its own livestream conference called Wired Direct where a number of unique indie games were announced. Along with the publisher, KoekeN announced Deliver Us The Moon is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X as well as the toy-filled puzzle game Tin Hearts. Other games were revealed for the first time, such as The Last Worker, a first-person narrative adventure coming next year. Wired Productions also announced a retro-inspired game called Arcade Paradise, one of the biggest highlights of its livestream event.
The premise of this management indie game follows Ashley, the daughter of a laundromat owner is growing tired of her dead-end job. But it just so happens that the couple of arcade cabinets located toward the back of the laundromat are raking in more cash than the actual laundry machines themselves. Knowing this, Ashley decides to secretly turn the laundromat into a retro arcade.
In Arcade Paradise, players will juggle the boring chores in the laundromat that are needed to raise money for her secret arcade operation. Slowly, as players management the business and its financials, the arcade will slowly grow to take over the laundromat and support at least 35 machines. But there's one interesting catch that makes Arcade Paradise not just a management game: every single one of the arcade cabinets is a fully playable game
Shown in the trailer, these retro games of the early 90s include a beat-em-up fighting game, classic 32-bit racing games, a Bomberman lookalike, a Bust-A-Move copycat, bullet-hell games, and many more. Aside from the business management side of the game, players who buy Arcade Paradise will be getting a slew of games in one purchase.
There's even a small Easter Egg for more modern gamers. Ashley's father, the laundromat owner, is voiced by Doug Cockle, voice actor for fan-favorite fatherly figure Geralt of Rivia. The father's name is even Gerald, though he's a far cry from a witcher here.
While this trailer isn't much to go off of in terms of gameplay, it'll be interesting to see the types of decisions players can make along the way, change the overall layout of the laundromat, and anything else, such as how Ashley interacts with her dad as she sneakily changes his business over.
Arcade Paradise is set to release in 2021 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
