The last time we wrote about Auto Chess, back when it was announced for PlayStation 4, we didn't really have any clue how it works. Today, the popular free-to-play title has been announced for PS5, and it's coming very soon indeed. The problem is, we still haven't the foggiest what's going on.

Well, that's not strictly true: we've looked into it a little bit. If you're clueless like us, Auto Chess is a standalone version of what was originally a Dota mod. Its name comes from that fact that battles play out automatically. Before a round, you select pieces to put onto the chess-like board, and these come in all shapes and sizes. Each unit can be equipped with gear and items to make them more powerful, and success levels you up, and unlocks more units, and so on.

We're not going to pretend we're experts, but the game is super popular, so it must have something going for it. Anyway, as the new trailer above states, it makes its way to PS5 on 30th March, including some new features. The game will take advantage of PS5's hardware and features — DualSense's haptic feedback, reduced load times, and enhanced visuals. Again, it's free-to-play, so you may as well give it a look, right?
