Ubisoft has revealed a more in-depth content roadmap for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, confirming that the game's first expansion, Wrath of the Druids, will launch on the 29th April. But what's beyond Eivor's trip to Ireland? Well, another free update — much like the ongoing Ostara Festival — is planned for late spring. It's called the 'Mastery Challenge', and it'll see Eivor hone his or her combat abilities with the help of a veteran warrior.
From the official press release: "A second update will add a new game mode building on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s core combat mechanics, bringing a highly replayable combat experience. A Master arrives at the settlement, inspiring Eivor to train and perfect challenges to become a Master." Sounds like it could be quite interesting.
Ubisoft also says that "more rewards" are planned for a different future update, but we don't really have any context for that just yet.

Is combat in Valhalla actually good? Like Dark Souls good?
@Blacksmith1985 I like the combat in Valhalla, albeit it’s not amazing or anything. It is a bit generic, but I found it fine for this type of game. I’ve never played Dark Souls, only a bit of Bloodborne, so I couldn’t tell - I do think though that the general consensus would be that DS has better combat.

I thought the combat in Valhalla was much better than what it was in the previous two games. Odyssey is still my fave overall, though.
Brilliant idea let’s highlight the mediocre weightless core combat that Ubisoft loves to incorporate in every 3rd person action game going forward (Fenix Rising feels like fighting in space on the moon wearing rollerblades)
Ghost of Tsushima got combat right, the studio showed passion and patience to perfect the system and it was their FIRST ATTEMPT
Creed has how many mainline games in the franchise and they STILL SUCK AT COMBAT
AC combat in the last 3 games has been *****. I hate it and it’s objectively bad. Unity was headed in the right direction, IMO and Ghost of Tsushima nailed what AC combat SHOULD be.

@NorrinRadd "Objectively bad" is a bit much. I agree that Ghost of Tsushima absolutely wipes the floor with pretty much any combat system Assassin's Creed has ever had, but I don't think the combat in Origins, Odyssey, or Valhalla is outright terrible. A bit jank and a bit weightless at times, sure, but it's serviceable for the most part (and pretty fun with certain abilities/weapons).
I feel like I am just painting by numbers when I am slaughtering the masses in every quest - I find myself enjoying Origins and Odyssey's combat so much more - I will give it another go

Ok maybe objectively bad was too strong,, but you can (and you did) do a direct comparison to something that would be almost universally considered better by any reasonable judgment in the combat that exists in ghost.
I didn’t really enjoy combat in odyssey until obtaining the skill that allowed you to teleport after an assassination, and chain that three more times. That to me was the most fun part of the game, but to get there you have to be almost through the entire game and by the time you acquired that skill the story was already over. To me that’s just bad game design. And the same thing is true in Valhalla – that all of the good stuff that makes you super powerful can’t be acquired really until after you complete the whole story. I wanna be able to use all the wonderful stuff while I’m in the story. I want to be able to be submersed in the story while feeling like a bad ass. I don’t wanna have to wait to feel that powerful until after the game is already over.
@NorrinRadd Yeah that's fair. It can be annoying when games lock some of the most fun abilities behind endgame content, and you never really get to use them. One of the reasons why I always appreciate it when games add a New Game+ mode!

Totally! I wish I had time for New Game+. I envy those of you who do.
Even nicer if Ubi would fix the major bugs still preventing tens of thousands of players from finishing the game...
