World of Warcraft’s Patch 9.0.5 is out today in NA and brings with it several improvements to various systems, bug fixing, and the ability to earn Valor Points in Mythic Keystone dungeons.

That last one is quite important as any gear you now acquire from Mythic Keystone dungeons can be upgraded with Valor. Valor is a new currency which you earn from completing those Mythic Keystone dungeons, in addition to Covenant Callings.

There’s a weekly Valor cap at 5000 in the first week which will increase by 750 Valor each week thereafter. You can hold a max of 1500 Valor per character at any given point in time. Crucially, it’s important to note that any gear you earned prior to today’s patch cannot be upgraded.

The patch also contains several changes, improvements, and fixes for adventures, classes, dungeons, raids, legendary items, the Maw, the companion app, characters, Covenants, PvP, and Torghast. Classes in particular received several fixes.

In case you missed it, check out our recent column on Shadowlands mid-tier balancing and how Robin is waiting on 9.1 to drop. You can check out the full patch notes for 9.0.5 here. The patch is expected to release for Europe tomorrow, and Asia on March 11.
