Following the reveal of the PS5 last year, along with its additional peripherals, fans were curious to see if there would be a PSVR headset announced for the system as well. Sony recently confirmed the development of a new headset, but that was all the publisher was willing to share, up until a few new game announcements were made today. Although, for a lot of fans, theven that early news was more than enough.

The PlayStation VR Headset on the PS4 was widely successful with quite a lot of console owners. With VR games being frequently released, along with major studios providing VR support for a multitude of popular games, the PlayStation VR headset quickly became a near integral component for console owners.

However, earlier last week, the first official details regarding PlayStation VR on the PS5 were revealed, much to the gaming community's surprise. In a recent PlayStation Blog post, the publisher mentioned that it was excited by the enthusiastic response that fans have given since the announcement. The post went on to say that Sony would have more to share in the future, but did not offer any further insight outside of that.

When the design of the PS5 was revealed last year, a lot of people were surprised by the lack of a new PlayStation VR headset. This caused many fans to further speculate that the PS5 would not receive any sort of new headset and Sony would just continue to use the original PS VR headset developed on the PS4.

Although, it begs to question when exactly the gaming community will see any official news regarding the reveal of a new PlayStation VR headset. It took Sony quite a long time to officially unveil the PS5 console design, so it could just come down to wanting to make sure that it's done correctly. The blog post did say that the headset wouldn't be revealed immediately, so at the very least, that should set fan expectations.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for PSVR. There were a significant number of VR games released on PS4 that achieved a massive amount of success and there were even some games that weren't originally intended for VR that found an equal amount of success, such as Resident Evil 7. With any luck, Sony will continue to keep fans updated on what's to come, and hopefully, more substantial news is released in the near future.
