After years of waiting, Final Fantasy fans have at last played the newly updated Final Fantasy 7 Remake. And with the new additions in Final Fantasy 7 Remake comes a whole new boss fight with Sephiroth.

Sephiroth, arguably one of the most iconic video game villains, is a terrifying opponent with one true goal to absorb all life on the planet and become a god. His attacks are brutal, some of which can deal out 9999 damage to Cloud and friends.

Luckily, there are some ways to approach the battle and make things a little easier for the player. So for Final Fantasy 7 Remake fans looking to understand how to stop Sephiroth for good, here is how to do it.

Sephiroth in Final Fantasy VII Remake

Sephiroth Stats

Depending on whether the game is playing on normal or hard mode, Sephiroth's stats will be vastly different. On normal mode, Sephiroth has 65,157 Hp, 205 ATTK, and 251 DEF. On hard mode, Sephiroth has 87,246 HP, 301 ATTK, and 342 DEF.

In terms of weaknesses and resistances, Sephiroth is immune to poison, sleep, slow, silence, stop, berserk, and proportional damage. On top of that, he also has a lesser resistance to fire, ice, lightning, wind, and magic.

Party Members

During the first phase of the boss fight, Sephiroth and Cloud will fight one on one. Slowly, more and more party members will join as the battle progresses. Although it may seem random, the game's choice in characters is actually decided on the point system through the Whisper Harbinger battle. Some good suggestions in party members for gamers to prioritize are Barret, who can tank through Sephiroth's stronger spells and the healer Aerith who can help other party members survive.

Battle Tips

One important thing to note is that since Sephiroth takes less damage from all four elements, players ought to remove any elemental materia for weapons that are equipped since their normal attacks will be weaker. This will also become a huge problem when Sephiroth absorbs a random element on phase three. However, this also means that Sephiroth will finally have a magical weakness, so take advantage of that with the proper spells.

The best way to approach this battle is to hit Sephiroth with hard attacks while his focus gauge is rising to stagger him. Then, while he is dazed, use a Limit Break or some other powerful ability. Also, since he is immune to most magic, prioritize using support magic like Haste and Barrier on Cloud so he can use the Counterstance technique as much as possible.

Lastly, whenever Sephiroth's health gets low, he will use his "Divine Proclamation" attack, which will start a countdown when the whole party takes the max amount of damage. So make sure to save up the strongest abilities for this moment to prevent this.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is available now on PlayStation 4. An expanded PlayStation 5 version titled Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intergrade will release on June 10, 2021.
